Oklahoma State true freshman Sergio Vega defeated two-time NCAA champion Jesse Mendez of Ohio State 4-1 in sudden victory overtime to win the 141-pound national title at the NCAA Wrestling Championships in Cleveland. Vega finished the season undefeated at 24-0, becoming the first true freshman national champion without a loss since 1947.
